A must-have for the nursing mom! Spectra pre-sterilized disposable breast milk bags with a temperature sensor to indicate the breast milk temperature. BPA free, tasteless, non-toxic, and suitable for long-term storage of breast milk.
They are self-standing, so they can easily stand upright in your freezer, saving space, and are double-lined and tightly sealable so that you can be confident that your breast milk is protected.
Each bag holds 180ml and features an easy-to-read measurement scale on the front of the milk bag that allows you to see at a glance how much milk it contains.
After filling a milk bag, Spectra highly recommends labeling each bag with the correct date of use which is located on the front. It’s important to remember to leave at least 2 cm empty from the seal down when storing bags in the freezer as breast milk will expand as it freezes.
Expressed breast milk is the best source of nutrition for your baby when you’re not there.
So how do you store and use your milk safely?
Good hygiene and proper milk storage practices are important for the health and safety of your baby.
Follow the below safety precautions:
- Wash your hands well with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Use breast milk storage bags or clean milk bottles/containers to store expressed breast milk. Make sure the containers are made of glass or BPA free plastic and have tight fitting lids.
- Never store breast milk in recipients that are not intended for storing breast milk.
Storing breast milk
You can store expressed milk at room temperature, in the fridge, or freezer. It depends on how soon you want to use it.
Breast milk is better for your baby than formula milk.
However, freshly expressed breast milk is preferred over refrigerated milk. That is because freshly expressed milk contains the best bacteria-fighting properties. It is higher in antioxidants, vitamins, and fat than refrigerated or frozen milk.
